Welcome to Viewfinder Counselling Services

In therapy, the metaphor of a viewfinder invites a shift in how you see things—allowing what feels blurred or overwhelming to come into focus. It creates space to slow down, zoom in, and explore your experiences with greater clarity. Patterns become more visible, emotions more understandable, and the bigger picture easier to hold.

Together, we adjust the lens—bringing certain pieces into focus while gently exploring what may have been pushed to the background. In that process, new meaning can emerge, along with a clearer sense of direction and possibility.

Hi, I'm Marta Beranek, MSW, RCSW

My approach to therapy is based on the belief that meaningful change happens through awareness, clarity, and practical support.

I provide a space that respects your goals and intentions. You’re welcome to bring your experiences—your life, relationships, and challenges. Together, we’ll look at patterns that may be holding you back and work toward aligning your thoughts, emotions, and relationships with what feels most genuine for you.  You may be seeking change or a deeper sense of connection—with yourself, others, or life.

Therapy isn’t about becoming someone different; it’s about reconnecting with your authentic self, your relationships, and your sense of purpose. The therapy process is tailored to your goals, your pace, and your lived experience. â€‹

Strength comes from realizing you have the power to choose. With it, you can move forward intentionally, shaping your life in alignment with your values—authentically and on your own terms.

First steps... Do I need therapy?

Starting Therapy Can Feel Difficult — And That’s Normal

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel intimidating. It often requires openness, emotional vulnerability, and navigating an unfamiliar process. Many people find themselves wondering:

  • What if I choose the wrong therapist or approach?

  • Are my concerns serious enough for therapy?

  • Can I afford the time or financial commitment?

  • What if I say the wrong thing?

  • Will therapy actually help?

These questions are common and completely understandable. Reaching out for support can feel especially challenging when you’re already feeling overwhelmed.

For this reason, it can be helpful to seek support early—before stress, anxiety, or emotional challenges begin to feel unmanageable.

Research consistently shows that therapy can be effective for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions. For many people, simply scheduling that first appointment can bring a sense of relief and hope that positive change is possible.
